Yeah, Colorado isn’t really known for football. We’re not Texas with its Friday Night Lights, or the South East Conference and their college shenanigans (I have one of those college boys—Geaux Tigers!).
But a person can enjoy football here in Colorado Springs, in a civilized version of the great college football experience– at the US Air Force Academy. And it’s right in our backyard.
I mean, this small school may be so-so at football most of the time, but with their serious funding from the US Government, it’s a big-time show every time. Jets, fireworks, all against the backdrop of the mountains, it’s a great experience for cheap.
Of course, there are also those Broncos. If you’re up for a drive, a 45-minute ordeal to park and walk to the stadium, and a ridiculous amount of dough (even if you’re sitting in the second row from the very top) head downtown Denver. Not quite as civilized—I say it’s where the crazy college students go after they grow up.
If you’re me, I’d rather send my kids up there and stay cozy on my couch with plenty of snacks nearby. A perfect way to watch football, if you ask me!!
